About This Tour

The Kaghan Valley stretches over 155km through the Mansehra district of KPK, climbing from lush subtropical forest at Balakot all the way to the high-altitude Babusar Top at 4,173m, which marks the boundary with Gilgit-Baltistan. Along the way, the Kunhar River — ice-cold and impossible blue — runs beside the road for almost the entire journey. Shogran, Naran, Payee Meadows and a string of glacial lakes make the valley one of the most naturally varied drives in Pakistan.

The absolute centrepiece of the valley is Saiful Mulook, a glacial lake at 3,224m so reflective and perfectly still on clear mornings that it doubles the snow peaks above it. Local folklore says a prince fell in love with a fairy princess here, and standing at the lakeside at first light, it is not hard to understand why. Dudipatsar — the Milk Lake — sits even higher at 3,800m, requiring a 4x4 and short hike, and rewards every step with an extraordinary high-altitude wilderness. All tours depart from Lahore.

Tour Highlights

🐄

Saiful Mulook Lake

A glacial lake at 3,224m with reflections of snow peaks so perfect it looks like a painting. Best at sunrise before the wind picks up.

🏔

Babusar Top

The high mountain pass at 4,173m connecting Kaghan to Gilgit-Baltistan, offering sweeping views of the Karakoram on clear days.

💧

Dudipatsar Lake

The Milk Lake at 3,800m, accessible by 4x4 and hike — a remote, wild glacial bowl ringed by peaks with almost no crowds.

🌊

Kunhar River

The ice-cold, turquoise river that runs the full length of the valley — the best trout fishing river in Pakistan.

🏠

Naran Bazaar

The lively base camp town of the valley, full of local restaurants, guesthouses and the starting point for all major lake excursions.
