Murree sits at 2,291m in the Pir Panjal range just 60km from Islamabad and about 280km from Lahore. It was established as a hill station by the British in 1851 and has been one of Pakistan's most popular mountain escapes ever since. The Mall Road, the colonial-era promenade that runs along the ridge, is one of the most recognisable streets in the country — lined with shops, stalls and the kind of mountain air that immediately clears your head.
The Galiyat region stretches beyond Murree along a ridgeline road through a string of smaller, quieter hill stations — Nathiagali, Dungagali, Ayubia and Thandiani — each with their own forest trails, chairlifts and viewpoints. Nathiagali in particular is a favourite for those who find Murree too busy: slower, greener, with longer forest walks and views of Mukshpuri Peak. The chairlift at Ayubia is a highlight for families. All tours depart from Lahore.
